Our story
our Background
Southern African Youth Development Agency (SAYDA) was first established in 2010 during the FIFA World Cup era, under the name South African Youth Development Academy. It was officially registered under Department of Social Development (South Africa) in 2013 in terms of the Non-Profit Organization Act, 1997, with Registration No: 118-800.
Initially focused on addressing youth challenges in South Africa — including education, unemployment, and leadership development — the organization steadily expanded its reach across neighboring countries through programmes, projects, and flagship initiatives such as the Southern African Annual Top Achievers Awards (SAATA Awards).
Why The Name Change?
In 2024, the organization transitioned from South African Youth Development Academy to Southern African Youth Development Agency (SAYDA). This change reflected its broader regional mandate, emphasizing inclusivity, cross-border collaboration, and a commitment to empowering youth across the Southern African region.
Today, SAYDA stands as a regional hub for youth empowerment, dedicated to The Professionals In The Making!
Southern African Youth Development Agency is also a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) in terms of Section 30(3) of The Income Tax Act No 58 of 1962. All donations to the Southern African Youth Development Agency are tax deductible in terms of Section 18A of the Income Tax Act, we can issue donors with Section 18A Tax Certificates.
