WHO WE ARE...

Sayda Youth Employment

  • Serve as a bridge between unemployed youth and the labor market, combining job sourcing, integrated employment links, and placement support into a single coordinated platform. Our structured approach ensures that young people are not only exposed to the latest job opportunities but are also guided, prepared, and connected to employers who value their skills.
  • Our primary objective is to reduce the share of young people most at risk of being left behind in the labour market
  • Our mission is to help to empower young people who are unemployed work seekers with little or no employable skills training, to develop their potential and enable them to find and keep jobs.
After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.
- Nelson Mandela

BACKGROUND

Youth unemployment remains one of the most pressing challenges across Southern Africa, limiting young people’s ability to transition successfully from education into sustainable livelihoods. Many graduates and job seekers face barriers such as limited access to information, lack of networks, and insufficient preparation for the demands of the modern labor market.

In response to this challenge, Southern African Youth Development Agency (SAYDA) established Sayda Youth Employment Programme as part of its broader learner development pathway. Built on years of experience through SAYDA’s educational and empowerment initiatives, the programme was designed to bridge the gap between skills development and actual employment.

The programme integrates job sourcing, digital employment platforms, and placement support, ensuring that youth are not only trained but also have direct access to employment opportunities. Through collaboration with employers, recruitment agencies, and government institutions, the Sayda Youth Employment Programme provides a structured solution that empowers youth to actively participate in the economy..

“You cannot develop an economy when people don't work. ... What develops an economy is when every able-bodied person works”.
- Moeletsi Mbeki

WHAT WE DO...

Sayda Youth Employment Programme provides a structured platform that sources, manages, and connects employment opportunities directly to unemployed youth. We work with employers across diverse sectors — including technology, finance, retail, construction, health, and public service — to create employment links that bridge young talent with industry needs.

Beyond job placements, we support youth with career readiness training, mentorship, and access to internships and learnerships, ensuring they are fully prepared to succeed in the workplace. By integrating digital tools and strategic partnerships, the programme makes employment more accessible, transparent, and sustainable.

Our goal is not just to help youth find jobs, but to empower them with pathways to long-term careers, contributing to both personal growth and the region’s economic development..

“Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?”
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
